Andrew B.C. Wood

Andrew Beynton Carlson Wood was born and raised in Richmond, while also spending considerable time in Northumberland County in Virginia’s Northern Neck, where his mother was born and raised. Andrew grew up in a household of practicing lawyers.  His father, Andrew W. Wood, began practicing law in 1967 and formed The Law Office of Wood & Wood, P.C. with his mother, Cheryl Carlson Wood, in 1981.

Andrew received his B.A. from the University of the South – Sewanee and his J.D. from the University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law.  Prior to attending law school, he was an intern for Congressman Eric Cantor and volunteered with the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society.  During law school, he gained valuable courtroom experience as an intern with the Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases in Circuit Court and General District Court.

Upon joining Wood & Wood in 2010, Andrew focused his practice on defending clients charged with criminal offenses, handling over two thousand criminal and traffic cases in courts across the state.  For over a decade there was rarely a day when Andrew was not arguing on behalf of clients in a Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, General District Court or Circuit Court.  Clients represented by Andrew came to expect an aggressive defense tailored to their individual circumstances and a “never quit” attitude.  Over the years, as Andrew’s clients and their family members and friends returned, he diversified his law practice to meet their needs.  Today Andrew’s practice is a true, traditional, general practice.  While Andrew still represents clients in criminal and traffic cases, he also handles a significant civil law practice including plaintiff personal injury, plaintiff and defendant civil litigation, business entities and litigation, contracts and leases, wills and estates, real estate issues, zoning and local government issues, and divorce, child custody, and child support, just to name a few.

Andrew’s goal is to offer his clients, as well as their friends and family members, high quality legal representation and counsel on just about any legal matter that might arise in every day life.  He is proud to have represented entire families through good times and bad, whether it be setting up wills and estate planning for families just starting out or those thinking of how to pass assets to the next generation, fighting insurance companies for just compensation for clients injured in accidents, helping to start up a first (or subsequent) business effort and handling any legal issues arising later, taking care of a son or daughter’s momentary lapse in good judgment, pulling on his muck boots to get a first hand look at a property issue, or simply answering the telephone to lend an ear and give some quick advice.

Andrew resides in Hanover County with his wife and three children.  In his free time he enjoys trying his hand at home improvements (with varying degrees of success), tending to the garden, and frequent getaways to the Northern Neck.
